Phycology

Phycology, also known as algology, is the branch of biology that studies algae — their classification, biology, ecology, and economic importance. Phycology is the scientific study of algae, which are primarily aquatic, photosynthetic organisms ranging from microscopic single-celled forms to large seaweeds.
